Quick and Easy Liver Cleansing Recipes #1

Breakfast:

1-2 glasses of lukewarm fresh lemon juice on rising.

2 slices wholegrain bread slightly toasted (not burnt) with Manuka honey, sliced banana or ripe kiwifruit. Sprinkle teaspoons of ground-up seeds mixture on top. Served with 1-2 glasses of liver cleansing juice.

Fresh lemon juice:

  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 glass lukewarm filtered water

Mixture of ground up seeds:

  • 3 tsp linseed
  • 2 tsp sunflower seed
  • 1 tsp almond

To save time, make seed mixture in bulk, just replace teaspoon with cup and store in a glass jar in the freezer for daily use.

Liver cleansing juice:

  • 2 carrots
  • 3 stalks of celery
  • sprigs of parsley


Lunch:

2-3 plain rice cakes or Ryvita crackers with avocado, tomato and mesclun salad mix. Served with 1-2 glasses of detox juice. For variety, replace avocado with homemade hummus.

Homemade hummus:

  • 1 can chickpeas
  • juice of one lemon
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 3 tbsp filtered water

Mix all ingredients in a blender until they resemble a paste.

Detox juice:

  • 1 apple
  • 1 carrots
  • 1 beetroot
  • big handful of black/purple grapes
  • small bunch of watercress
  • 1-2 sprigs of parsley
  • 1-2 feathers of fennel


Dinner

Brown rice with scrambled tofu and egg, served with ranchslaw salad and a glass of spirulina juice. Followed by a slice of mixed fruit and veggie pulp cake for dessert!

Scrambled tofu and egg:

  • 1/2 cube soft tofu
  • 1-2 eggs
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • dash of non-spiced light soysauce

Beat the egg(s) and mash the tofu in. Mix in the rest of the ingredients and scramble in a non-steak fry pan. Spray a little olive oil and stir right before serving.

Sprulina juice:

  • 1 carrot
  • 1 apple
  • handful of black/purple grapes
  • small piece of fresh root ginger
  • 1 tsp spirulina powder

Mixed fruit & veggie pulp cake:

  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup raw sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tbsp rice brand oil
  • 1 cup mixed fruit and veggie pulp from juicing
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 180*C. Mix all ingredients thoroughly before folding in mix fruit and veggie pulp and walnuts. Grease and line a cake tin. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until cake springs back when touched.
